The incumbent is responsible for loading, unloading, storing, and transporting explosive materials. This includes crating and casing materials as required, securing cargo on trucks or other carriers, and transporting explosive items between magazines (storage areas) and project locations. The position also involves cleaning magazines and adjacent areas to maintain safety and compliance standards. The employee will select and issue materials as documented on DA Form 581 or DD Form 1149, verifying the National Stock Number (NSN) or Part Number, nomenclature, lot number, and serial number. Additionally, the incumbent will maintain magazine data cards, recording all receipts and issues, and assist with inventories as needed.
The role requires the operation and maintenance of materials handling equipment, such as forklifts (up to 10,000 lbs.), overhead cranes, power lifts, handcarts, and dollies. The employee will operate trucks up to 20 tons with semi-trailers and use a facility tractor/mower with attachments for vegetation control. The incumbent will also be responsible for making minor mechanical repairs and ensuring that vehicles and equipment remain in good working order. The position may require overtime and could involve emergency callback after normal duty hours or on weekends.
