Summary of Job Purpose |
Perform nursing care as assigned which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, teaching, evaluation, and implementation of treatment process in accordance with JCAHO, OASAS and ASAM that directly responds to the needs of the patient.

Essential Job Responsibilities |
The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. The employee may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Perform nursing assessments of all clients and initiate the patient care plan in accordance with information obtained.
- Monitor and assess patients for vital signs, signs of impending withdrawal, or other medical problems.
- Administers medications according to Kingston Hospital Nursing policies and procedures and assists in inventory and storage of facility pharmaceutical supplies.
- Accurately transcribe physicians’ orders in a timely manner and execute under direction of physician.
- Actively participate in daily inter-disciplinary patient update/conference, giving observations and update of each patient discussed.
- Responsible for patients to provide assessment and medication in adherence to guidelines dictated by Kingston Hospital nursing department and regulations.
- Prepares records and reports as required.
- Participate in providing a learning environment for nurses, medical staff and counselors
- Implement policies and procedures, service delivery standards, quality assurance and utilization review standards, and Kingston Hospital nursing division policies and procedures and standards of nursing care.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
- Schedule appointments for physicians and prescribing professionals.
- Initiate, monitor, and obtain toxicology.
- Register medications and access for efficacy with instruction and education as needed.
- Manages infection prevention and control activities.
- Improves staff compliance with hand hygiene guidelines
- Identifies risks for acquiring and spreading infections based on population served
- Adheres to DOH compliance with communicable disease guidelines
- Develops and implements policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases.

Essential Job Qualifications |
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Experience:
- Previous acute care nursing with chemically dependent patients preferred
Training/License:
- Current NYS Registered Nurse
