Industrial Designer at Grizzly Industrial Inc – Bellingham, Washington

Grizzly Industrial is seeking a creative and innovative Industrial Designer with a refined sense of style and aesthetic finesse. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on design, with the ability to conduct user research and possess a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and a good understanding of graphic design.

This role requires a mechanically oriented individual who knows how things are made and can manage multiple projects simultaneously. We encourage applicants to showcase their storytelling abilities and create a compelling narrative in their application process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Development: Work on design from concept to production, including 3D design, CAD modeling and 2D design for graphics, labels and UI, ensuring that designs meet user needs and manufacturing requirements.
• Research: Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to inform design decisions and improve product usability.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective to produce.
• Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
• Prototyping: Create and test prototypes to validate design concepts and make necessary adjustments.
• Presentation: Develop compelling presentations to communicate design concepts and tell the story behind the designs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, and production, to bring designs to life.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation and specifications for manufacturing.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a corporate or agency setting.
• Software Proficiency: Expertise in SolidWorks, KeyShot, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft 365.
• Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and documentation.
• Research Skills: Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Design Aesthetics: Keen sense of style and ability to create visually appealing designs.
• Communication Skills: Ability to create compelling presentations and effectively communicate design concepts.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
• Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and work environments.
• Storytelling: Skill in creating compelling narratives to communicate design concepts and the story behind the designs.
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work is required to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the industrial or consumer products sector.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
