About This Position
The Business Development Consultant is responsible for establishing and expanding strategic relationships with custom home builders, architects, designers, and referral partners to generate new qualified leads and drive revenue growth. This role focuses on proactive market development rather than inbound sales and serves as a key ambassador for the company in the luxury residential construction market.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Building
• Proactively prospect custom home builders, architects, designers, and industry influencers through cold calls, emails, and social media
• Establish referral partnerships and preferred vendor relationships
• Conduct regular in-person visits, presentations, and relationship-building meetings
• Attend industry events, networking functions, builder associations, and trade shows
Pipeline & Revenue Generation
• Generate qualified opportunities and hand off leads to sales/design teams
• Support project pursuit strategy and partner alignment
• Track and manage all leads and relationships in CRM
• Meet or exceed monthly and annual pipeline and revenue targets
Market Intelligence
• Monitor luxury residential construction activity and emerging developments
• Provide insights on competitors, market trends, and customer needs
• Identify new strategic opportunities for services and partnerships
Brand Representation
• Promote company capabilities, certifications, and differentiation in outdoor living, hardscape, and landscape construction
• Deliver partner education sessions and lunch-and-learns
• Collaborate with marketing on builder-focused campaigns and collateral
Qualifications
Required
• 3+ years of experience in business development, B2B sales, construction, landscaping, or related industry
• Proven success generating leads through relationships and partnerships
• Strong networking, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to operate independently in a field-based role
• CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
Preferred
• Experience with custom home builders, architects, designers, or luxury residential construction
• Knowledge of landscape, hardscape, outdoor living, or construction services
• Existing industry relationships in the regional market
Compensation
Competitive base salary plus commission
