About This Position
Quality Assurance Specialist
Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of corporate food safety and quality programs across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role assists with quality systems, regulatory compliance, internal auditing, documentation control, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet company, regulatory, and customer requirements.
The position works cross-functionally with plant quality teams, operations, sanitation, maintenance, and regulatory personnel. All 3 plant locations are in Ohio.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems Support
Assist in maintaining corporate food safety and quality systems including HACCP, GMP, and preventive controls programs.
Support documentation control for quality policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Help standardize quality programs across multiple manufacturing facilities.
Track and maintain records required for regulatory and certification compliance.
Audit & Compliance
Assist with preparation for third-party, regulatory, and customer audits.
Conduct internal audits of quality systems and GMP programs.
Help track corrective actions and verify implementation.
Support compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Food Safety & Regulatory Programs
Support allergen control, sanitation verification, and environmental monitoring programs.
Assist with regulatory documentation and compliance reporting.
Support labeling and ingredient documentation reviews when required.
Data Management & Reporting
Compile and analyze quality data and key performance indicators.
Maintain quality records, logs, and reports.
Assist in trending quality issues and identifying improvement opportunities.
Cross-Plant Support
Work with plant quality teams to ensure consistent program implementation.
Assist with training materials related to quality and food safety.
Participate in corporate quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred.
Experience
2–3 years of experience in food manufacturing quality or food safety.
Knowledge & Skills
Basic understanding of food safety principles (HACCP, GMPs).
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
Good communication skills for working with multiple plant teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Experience
Experience with GFSI benchmarked standards (SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000).
Knowledge of FDA food safety regulations.
Experience with document control or quality management systems.
Work Environment
Combination of office and manufacturing plant environments.
Occasional travel to company manufacturing facilities.
Must follow all food safety and plant safety requirements when in production areas.
