Quality and Logistics Specialist
Massie Manufacturing
Baraga, Michigan

Massie Manufacturing is seeking a Quality and Logistics Specialist to support quality inspections and material flow within our fabrication shop. This role helps ensure that incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished assemblies meet engineering drawing requirements and customer expectations.

The position also assists with preparing finished products for shipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses professional integrity, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

What You Will Do:
Inspection and Quality Verification
• Perform incoming inspections of purchased parts, raw materials, and subcontracted components as assigned by Quality Department.
• Conduct in-process inspections of fabricated components and assemblies during production.
• Perform final inspections of completed parts and assemblies prior to shipment.
• Verify dimensions and features using inspection tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and other common shop measuring equipment.
• Perform visual inspections of welds, finishes, and assemblies.
• Identify and report nonconforming materials or workmanship to the Quality Manager.
• Record inspection results and maintain inspection documentation.
• Assist with segregation and identification of nonconforming product when necessary.
Material Flow and Logistics Support
• Assist with staging and preparation of finished product for shipment.
• Help maintain organization of inspection areas, staging locations, and material storage areas.
Shop Support
• Work closely with production personnel to ensure inspections are completed without disrupting workflow.
• Assist with part identification and traceability when required.
• Support general shop organization and continuous improvement efforts related to quality and material flow.

Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings
• Ability to use common inspection tools and measuring equipment
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment
Preferred
• Experience working in metal fabrication, machining, or welding environments
• Experience performing dimensional or visual inspections
• Forklift experience or willingness to become certified
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation or inspection records
Work Environment
• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Lifting and moving parts and materials
• Working around welding, fabrication, and machining operations
• Use of forklifts or pallet jacks when required
• Compliance with shop safety procedures and required personal protective equipment (PPE)
