About This Position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Manager – Deal Origination in the United States.
This role is a high-impact, externally facing position at the center of a fast-moving investment platform focused on acquiring mid-market software businesses. You will be responsible for building and owning a proprietary pipeline of M&A opportunities, engaging directly with founders, CEOs, and intermediaries across the software ecosystem. Operating in a performance-driven and entrepreneurial environment, you will combine business development, relationship management, and investment awareness to source high-quality deals in the $50–$100MM range. This is a highly visible role where your ability to originate opportunities directly shapes deal flow and firm growth. You will act as a key ambassador of the platform in front of senior stakeholders across the M&A landscape. The position requires strong commercial instincts, credibility with executives, and a proactive mindset in fast-paced deal environments. It is designed for someone who thrives on ownership, accountability, and measurable impact.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of proprietary M&A opportunities within the software sector, focusing on mid-market transactions in the $50–$100MM range.
- Lead outbound deal origination efforts through cold outreach, warm introductions, and multi-channel engagement including email, phone, LinkedIn, and in-person networking.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investment bankers, brokers, advisors, and other sell-side intermediaries in the middle-market ecosystem.
- Identify, engage, and qualify software founders and business owners who are not yet in formal sale processes.
- Represent the firm in high-level external interactions, including meetings with CEOs, bankers, lawyers, and industry stakeholders.
- Screen and prioritize inbound deal flow in coordination with the internal investment team.
- Travel to conferences, trade shows, and target meetings to support sourcing efforts and expand network reach.
- Maintain accurate CRM tracking, pipeline reporting, and activity updates to ensure visibility and deal flow discipline.
- Collaborate with investment principals to refine targeting strategies and develop thesis-driven sourcing campaigns.
- 4–6 years of experience in investment banking (ideally software/technology M&A), corporate development, private equity-backed environments, or senior business development roles with direct M&A exposure.
- Proven track record of actively closing deals, with direct responsibility for deal execution outcomes rather than supporting roles.
- Strong hands-on experience in business development activities such as outbound outreach, networking, and conference engagement.
- Deep understanding of middle-market M&A processes, transaction mechanics, and the intermediary landscape.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage credibly at the executive level.
- Highly self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and pace-setting capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier academic institution or equivalent strong academic background.
- Nice to have: prior exposure to software or technology sector transactions.
- Competitive base salary ranging from $120,000 to $150,000.
- Performance-based annual bonus of $60,000+ tied to deal outcomes.
- Potential equity participation to align long-term incentives.
- High visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership and investment decision-makers.
- Opportunity to shape deal sourcing strategy within a growing investment platform.
- Dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment with significant autonomy and ownership.
