Job Description

Electric Materials is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for reviewing a customer drawing and determining the manufacturing process required to produce a quality product in a cost-effective manner. This includes creating a process flow template, calculating labor and material costs, and designing required tooling or fixtures. This person will support a continuous improvement initiative and at times, lead continuous improvement projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All job duties and responsibilities require collaboration with other team members.
  • Create job specific manufacturing processes for all finished goods.
  • Improve existing manufacturing processes and implement any design or process changes.
  • Create tooling drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • Collaborate with other departments for information and job specific requirements.
  • Lead research and development projects.
  • Look for opportunities to modernize current tools, processes, and equipment.
  • Communicate with customers to determine cost effective solutions to their issues.
  • Provide manufacturing support to shop supervisors and hourly workers.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and oversight on any new manufacturing process to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ Years of manufacturing experience, with 1+ years of tool design experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred but an Associate degree and/or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required.
  • Prior experience using engineering design software is required. AutoCAD Mechanical and Solidworks is a plus.
  • Design experience in the following categories would be a plus: metal extrusion, cold drawing, cold rolling, broaching, punching, stamping, work holding, forging, casting.
  • CNC Programming and machining experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical matters.
  • Experience with cost analysis and costing methods.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to lead and train peers in areas of manufacturing methods, process routings, and costing approaches.
