We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller with a keen eye for detail and strong people management skills to join our dynamic finance team. The Corporate Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health and operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance. This position requires a strong background in accounting and finance, with proficiency in accounting software. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills and be able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Financial Reporting:
- Oversee all accounting day-to-day operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Accounting and Revenue Recognition for a multi-company operation.
- Lead and manage the annual external audit and tax process, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Prepare and ensure timely and accurate closing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with meticulous attention to detail.
- Review reconciliations for A/R, Earned and Unearned Revenue, Residence Income between student information system and accounting system
- Review reconciliations of A/P, GL Accounts, bank and credit card accounts, payroll and benefits (ADP), inter-company balances.
- Ensure consistency of procedures throughout all companies in the ILAC Group.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members in a positive and supportive work environment, ensuring efficient performance and professional development.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevents errors or fraud.
- Implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures with precision.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements, paying careful attention to detail.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
- Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow with meticulous attention to detail to optimize working capital.
- Monitor and reconcile bank statements and cash accounts.
- Implement strategies to enhance liquidity and financial stability.
- Financial Analysis:
- Support FP&A team with accurate financial information that is used for department leaders, senior management and board of directors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong people management skills to drive financial performance.
- Financial Systems and M&A Integration:
- Manage the accounting system, ensuring it is up to date, accurate, and aligns with best practices.
- Assist in due diligence and financial integration of potential acquisitions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation is considered a strong asset.
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role, ideally 3+ years of Controller experience
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional people management skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
