Job Description:

The Verification Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate insurance and demographic data in the NextGen Practice Management System to ensure timely and correct billing. This role verifies patient eligibility for insurance plans as well as grant funding (Substance Use, Mental Health, and others), while promptly communicating changes that may affect coverage, benefits, or patient responsibility.

In addition, the Verification Coordinator may assist with related revenue cycle functions such as demographic updates, billing, and payment posting, as directed by leadership. A core focus of this position is patient advocacy—helping patients understand their insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and available financial resources to ensure a transparent and supportive experience.

Salary: $19.00 - $22.00/hour

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; minimum of 1 year of experience in billing.
  • Prior verification experience preferred, ideally in mental health or primary care settings.
  • Proficient in computer use, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to manage conflict effectively.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows environment and familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to provide culturally sensitive services.
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Required vaccinations, titers, or signed declination forms: Flu, Hepatitis B, MMR, Tdap, Varicella, and COVID-19.
