About This Position
Jax Dirtworks is seeking an experienced Land Survey CAD Drafter to join our team in Northeast Florida. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a solid understanding of land surveying principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Processing:
- Receive and analyze field survey data from surveying crews, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking points.
- Import data from various survey instruments like total stations, GPS units, and 3D scanners into CAD software.
- Clean and manipulate data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- CAD Drafting:
- Create detailed as-built drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software, including:
- Site plans with accurate property lines, existing features, and construction details.
- Topographic maps with contours and spot elevations.
- Utility plans depicting locations of underground utilities.
- Building elevations and sections, highlighting deviations from original design.
- Construction staking plans for final verification.
- Create detailed as-built drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software, including:
- Coordinate Calculation:
- Perform necessary calculations to accurately represent field measurements in the CAD environment, including area calculations, volume calculations, and coordinate transformations.
- Quality Control:
- Thoroughly review and verify the accuracy of as-built drawings against field data, ensuring all discrepancies are properly documented.
- Adhere to industry standards and project specifications for drawing formatting and annotation.
- Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with field survey crews, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify data needs and address any concerns.
- May provide technical support to field crews on data collection methods.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles and field data collection techniques.
- Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and datum conversions.
- Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions and construction documents.
- Analytical Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in data.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret field data and translate it into accurate CAD drawings.
- Communication Skills:
- Clear communication skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in surveying or related field preferred.
- Several years of experience as a survey CAD drafter, preferably in construction projects.
- Familiarity with land development procedures and construction practices is beneficial.
