The COLUMBIA I&C & AC Power department is looking for highly motivated Test Engineers. Successful candidates will be joining a strong and experienced engineering team in an exciting and fast-paced environment focused on designing power distribution, reactor plant, steam plant, and electric plant systems and equipment for the new COLUMBIA Class submarines. D429 offers a unique engineering opportunity to work in any of a wide variety of electrical engineering concentrations (power generation and distribution, steam-plant and reactor-plant instrumentation & control, project management, etc.). Successful candidates will be responsible for all aspects of their assigned systems or components, which includes:

Candidate must be able to multi-task, work in teams and possess skills that permit independent functioning without significant oversight, and work under pressure. Candidate must pay high attention to detail. Effective teamwork is mandatory. The candidate must be highly motivated and well-organized. Must able to mentor entry-level employees. Ability to work on a high performance team. Candidates must be able to read & work from electrical system diagrams and schematics

Overview
The COLUMBIA I&C & AC Power department is looking for highly motivated Test Engineers. Successful candidates will be joining a strong and experienced engineering team in an exciting and fast-paced environment focused on designing power distribution, reactor plant, steam plant, and electric plant systems and equipment for the new COLUMBIA Class submarines. D429 offers a unique engineering opportunity to work in any of a wide variety of electrical engineering concentrations (power generation and distribution, steam-plant and reactor-plant instrumentation & control, project management, etc.). Successful candidates will be responsible for all aspects of their assigned systems or components, which includes:
- Developing the test procedures for the first of a new class of submarines
- Troubleshooting and construction support for electrical systems
- Leading component qualification testing projects
- Mentoring newer engineers as both technical leaders and professionals
- Supporting development of associated technical documentation, including manuals, operating instructions, repair parts lists, preventative maintenance specifications, etc.
- Managing system and component interfaces including electrical, structural, piping, and mechanical
- Supporting 3D model development and arrangement of systems, cableways, and system components.
- Overseeing subcontractor designs, manufacturing, testing, and qualification
- Obtaining customer approval of designs and requirements via formal correspondence.
- Supporting the ongoing construction, testing, and time critical troubleshooting for the COLUMBIA Class submarines at the Quonset Point and Groton shipyards.

Qualifications
Required:
- 4+ years Navy experienceHigh school diploma
- Nuclear Propulsion Plant experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree
- Project planning and management experience
- Reactor Plant Operator and/or Electric Plant Operator experience
