OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Electronics Engineer role is a key part of the company’s engineering team involved in circuit and mechanical domains. The role is responsible for ensuring that all electrical aspects related to product design including BLDC motors, motor controllers, position sensors, connectors, EM brakes, cabling, etc. are met. The successful candidate will:
- Define, design, and support electronics equipment for products and testing
- Design and create product design details, including checking, reviewing and approving drawings and change order, detailed piece part drawings w/tolerance and thermal studies
- Create development/qualification electronic test systems and documentation
- Create conceptual and detailed electronic system schematics including cable harnesses and motor controllers
- Evaluate electronic components and circuitry to support proposal efforts
- Support production floor with electrical expertise for product assembly, testing, and troubleshooting
- Work with vendors to identify the appropriate, cost-effective components and design elements to meet customer requirements
- Provide technical support to suppliers and customers
- Contribute to organizational growth. Define R&D projects and build and test prototypes
- Mentor and train other engineers
- All other duties assigned by manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of related experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of BLDC motors, feedback sensors, EM brakes, and electro-mechanical actuation concepts (i.e. gearing, mechanical translations, etc.)
- Experience with requirement flow down, actuators sensor interfaces, commercial, and military standards (RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-810 standards), Qualifications and Certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- U.S. Citizen, no dual citizenship allowed
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Capability in software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW or equivalent
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods
- Knowledge of control systems and control integration
- Knowledge of fault tolerant (redundant) systems
- Knowledge of reliability, fault tree, FMECA’s
- Knowledge of space and aerospace environments, land and sea-based systems, and design for harsh environments
- Familiarity with motor and motor-control concepts
- Knowledge of different types of motors and basic feedback control systems like sensors, power driver stages, and PID controllers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND VISUAL DEMANDS
- Standard office environment; occasional exposure to manufacturing plant noise/temperature, requiring PPE
- Frequent speaking, listening, and computer use
- Vision requirements include depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
