About This Position
Position Overview
A Cable Technician is responsible for installing and servicing fiber and coaxial systems within various settings, including residential homes, office complexes, and large commercial buildings. Their duties include setting up, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables to support high-speed internet and communication networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install fiber optic systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Splice coaxial cables of various types and sizes.
- Perform accurate and efficient splicing for span replacements, single-dwelling units (SDUs), small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and forced relocations in both aerial and underground environments.
- Identify and replace damaged or outdated fiber optic cables.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in problematic fiber optic areas.
- Assess job sites to prevent potential disruptions caused by faulty fiber installations.
- Monitor and log signal strength across multiple services, such as TV, telephone, and high-speed internet.
- Capable of splicing directly on active devices with precision and efficiency.
- Create, update, and manage system documentation and network designs.
- Provide customer education on installed services and offer assistance with configuring user-owned equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in cable installation supervision preferred.
- Strong digital literacy; comfortable with tablets, spreadsheets, project tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and assertively.
- Capable of making independent decisions and solving problems under pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications are a plus.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver's license required; ability to travel to multiple job sites daily.

- Ability to climb and balance. Use or ladder required.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
