Public Works Maintenance at Village of Glenwood – Glenwood, Illinois

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under direct supervision from the Public Works Crew Leader and Public Works Director, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties in the construction and maintenance of Village streets, sidewalks, water and sewer systems; and related work as assigned.

This position is a union position with the Construction and General Laborers District Council of Chicago and Vicinity and its Local 681 of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, AFL-CIO.

· Village owned building maintenance

· Snow removal

· Storm damage remediation

· Village hosted event assistance

· Village department assistance

· Traffic sign maintenance

· Street lighting maintenance

· Tree maintenance

· Janitorial maintenance

· Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Possession of a Class B CDL license with air brakes within 90 days of hire

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee often works in outside weather conditions. The employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally work in high, precarious places and may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The employee may occasionally be exposed to risk of electrical shock.
