Job Summary:
As a Level 1 Cable Technician at Modern Tek Solutions, you will be an essential part of our field team, contributing to the installation, maintenance, and service of low-voltage cabling systems. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who are eager to develop hands-on skills in a fast paced technical environment. With on-the-job training, exposure to a variety of projects, and mentorship from senior staff, the Level 1 Technician plays a critical role in supporting job site success and customer satisfaction. This role is designed for growth-minded individuals who are ready to work hard, stay safe, and learn the industry from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
1. Cabling Installation: Install and terminate low voltage cabling systems, including but not limited to data, voice, and video cables. Ensure installations comply with industry standards and project specifications.
2. Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct tests on installed cabling systems to ensure proper functionality. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cable connections, terminations, and signal quality.
3. Prepare work areas, clean up job sites, and organize materials
4. Documentation: Create and maintain accurate documentation of cable installations, including as-built drawings, cable schedules, and test results. Provide clear and concise reports to supervisors and project managers.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including senior technicians and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution. Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and address challenges in a timely manner.
6. Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and industry standards during all phases of the installation process. Follow established procedures to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
7. Customer Interaction: Interact with clients professionally and represent the company positively. Address customer concerns and provide assistance as needed during installations or service calls.
8. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used in cable installations. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly to ensure a well-functioning work environment.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Basic knowledge of low voltage cabling systems and industry standards.
3. Entry-level experience in cabling installation and maintenance is a plus.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
6. Comfortable working at heights and in various environmental conditions.
7. Certifications such as BICSI or CompTIA Network+ are advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
2. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
3. Able to walk, stand, bend, and move for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
4. Ability to work in high-temperature environments during Florida summers.
