About This Position

Job Overview:

Director of Sterile Processing Standards/Regulatory/Eduction is a leadership position responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring projects in Sterile Processing for the system. The director will perform frequent consultation and collaborations to determine required actions and recommendations. Professional experience shall include clinical, administrative and organizational leadership roles and demonstration of advanced interpersonal and communication skills. Director will have familiarity with health information systems, analytical ability and the ability to design and apply complex research-based methodologies. Director shall have demonstrated skill in the advancement of goals within healthcare setting along with the knowledge of large health care delivery systems impacting rapid changes in healthcare. Director shall have the ability to work with a variety of health professionals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current Central Sterile Certification Manager
  • Current Certification Central Sterile Processing Tech.
  • Obtains Endoscopy Certification within 3 months to promote regulatory compliance for scope cleaning and high-level disinfection.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • CHL certification required

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions—remove when posting):

  • Shift working, 9:00—5:00 each day
  • Days to work
  • FT

Essential Functions:

  • Recognizes and identifies potential opportunities for improvement in business processes, or where new processes need to be developed, and makes recommendations in these areas.
  • Ensures day-to-day compliance with and consistent application of sterilization principles, standards and techniques at facility.
  • Communicates regularly with OR Service Managers to assess work flow of the current day and proactively plan the next day.
  • Develops staffing schedule to accommodate services, physicians and patient needs.
  • Participate with the Director in planning the future needs of specific shift including, but not limited to, staffing, program development, intradepartmental relationships and Instrument/Equipment inventory levels.
  • Tracks budgets and spending for instrumentation/equipment. Communicates with Sterile Processing department (SPD) supervision to ensure instruments are available as needed.
  • Collaborates with staff to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
  • Utilizes Incident Reporting system for trending areas in need of improvement.
  • Follows up on incident report communications and makes recommendations as necessary.
  • Prepares monthly operations reports. Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports. E
  • nsures performance appraisals are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Monitors and documents staff competency levels.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Prepares Quality reporting to Infection Control Committee and Performance Improvement
