About the role

Summary: The Lead SOAP Clinician is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and delivery of structured outpatient addiction services. This role involves ensuring program operations meet clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards while fostering a supportive environment for individuals seeking recovery. The SOAP Clinician collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based care and individualized treatment plans are provided to clients.


As part of the Casa Esperanza, Inc. team, the Lead SOAP Clinician will provide services in a fully integrated, holistic, and collaborative manner using a team-treatment approach, to ensure the coordination of all client services, both across Casa programs as well as with external providers. The SOAP Clinician will coordinate and deliver group counseling, individual counseling and case management services for SOAP participants in need of intensive outpatient addiction treatment.


What you'll do

Essential Functions:


Client Care:

· Facilitate 3.5 hours of daily Structured Outpatient Addiction Program (SOAP) group counseling sessions.

· Delivers group sessions utilizing Casa's culturally focused, evidence-based, and trauma-informed SOAP

curriculum.

· Complete initial treatment plans and all needed individual and group documentation.

· Work closely with clinicians to develop and monitor individualized treatment plans with clearly defined

interventions and measurable goals and outcomes.

· Work with clinical team to review, evaluate, and monitor progress towards completing all required

aspects of SOAP program, including engagement in group and individual sessions.

· Provides crisis intervention counseling, with referrals/warm handoffs to clinical and psychiatric crisis care

when needed.

· Engages external and internal service providers to better meet clients’ needs.

· Provides group and individual treatment using evidence-based practices including Motivational.

Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Relational and Psychodynamic Therapy, etc., as needed.

· Participate in weekly clinical meetings to provide updates and assist in the decision-making related to

treatment planning and implementation.

· Functions as a resource to the rest of the team on substance use disorder-related issues.

· Educate clients and their families about substance use disorder diagnoses; recovery and wellness

support services; medication, including MAT for substance use disorders, psychotropic medications, and medications for other physical conditions; and ensure engagement with medication monitoring services and regular health maintenance.

· Coordinate care with external providers, community resources, and referral sources.

· Work with Casa leadership team to plan, implement, and maintain trauma-informed practices.

· Other job duties as assigned to support with clinical services.


Administrative:

· Ensures adherence to program treatment philosophies and policies.

· Maintains client and program records in accordance with agency requirements and timelines.

· Assists with utilization management to include assessing appropriateness, effectiveness, and medical

need for services.

· Works closely with Patient Access Team to ensure efficient assessment and enrollment of patients into

SOAP.

· Works closely with Practice Management to maintain efficient workflow to meet program utilization goals

and objectives and ensure timely billing.

· Assists in all reporting as required by supervisors.

· Attends all trainings and professional development opportunities as required.

· Attends mandatory weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.

· Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.

· Contributes to the ongoing development of a bilingual, culturally focused SOAP curriculum.

· Participates in weekly programmatic and clinical supervision.

· Completes all documentation in our electronic health record.

· Attends weekly supervision.

· Works with Medical Team to maintain and promote overall health, safety, and ensure the appropriate level

of care.

· Provides back up on-call coverage, as needed.

· Other job duties as assigned to support the administrative duties of the role.


Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree required in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field required

· Bilingual, Spanish, required

· Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor/Certified Alcohol Counselor required or willing to obtain within 1

year of hire

· Experience working with population with substance use disorders. Experience with psychiatric and/co-occurring

disorders preferred

· Familiarity in working in a strength based, trauma informed environment

· Knowledge of appropriate community resources

· Knowledge of the issues affecting people with HIV/AIDS in recovery from substance abuse/alcoholism

· Experience with individuals dealing with homelessness, mental illness, domestic violence, and the

criminal justice system

· Experienced in crisis management and intervention

· Experience providing individual, family and group interventions to target population

· Strong verbal/written communication

· Ability to work as both an effective team member and independently

· Knowledge & Practice of evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse

prevention and motivational interviewing techniques preferred

· Ability to meet the physical requirements and training requirements of the position

· Onsite position Monday-Friday, with availability from 8am-8pm and Saturday 9-1pm

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am to 8pm (On-site) & every other Saturday 9-1pm
