About This Position
Job Summary:
Community Health Workers (CHWs) are the backbone of community health at Ellenville Regional Hospital. These vital members bridge the gap between residents and healthcare, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive. They act as health education champions, providing culturally sensitive information on disease prevention and healthy living. They also advocate for the community's well-being, identifying and addressing barriers to optimal health. Furthermore, CHWs serve as trusted guides, helping residents navigate the healthcare system and manage chronic conditions. By fulfilling this multifaceted role, Ellenville Regional Hospital's CHW plays a key part in delivering the mission of the Ellenville Regional Rural Health Network (ERRHN). They organize and deliver grant-funded outreach programs outlined in the network's work plans, directly addressing the community's specific health needs.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, coordinate, and attend community events, health fairs, school functions, and outreach activities to promote hospital and RHN programs.
- Coordinate and manage information tables, booths, and displays at various events.
- Represent Ellenville Regional Hospital and the RHN professionally and enthusiastically at all community engagements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, businesses, and local leaders.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating community health education workshops and seminars.
- Collect community feedback and event data to inform future programming.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement outreach strategies that align with hospital goals and RHN objectives.
- Design and distribute marketing materials including flyers, brochures, social media content, and digital campaigns using tools such as Canva.
- Support the creation and management of events and posts for hospital and RHN Facebook pages.
- Help ensure consistent branding and messaging across outreach materials and platforms.
- Respond to general RHN inquiries via phone (RHN extension) and email.
- Maintain and update the general RHN outreach schedule and records for reporting.
- Track and assist with data reporting related to RHN deliverables, especially the HEAL Project.

Salary: Base salary of $22.00 per hour.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- Associates degree or equivalent
- 2+ years working in the field
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health, Nursing, Human Services or Marketing preferred
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with diverse community populations.
- Experience in event coordination, marketing, public health, or related community-facing roles preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and social media platforms
- Ability to drive a van and transport outreach equipment (must have a valid driver’s license).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors during events.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
