Physician Biller at MerrimackHealth – Lawrence, Massachusetts

At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $19.37 (Min) — $29.05 hourly (Max), excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.

Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

As the Physician Biller, you will be asked to ensure self-pay accounts are billed in a timely and accurate fashion. Performs daily review of self-paying patients using system-generated face sheets, reports and computer-assisted eligibility applications. Interact with hospital staff, physicians, outside agencies, patients and their family members to ensure effective guest relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experience with medical terminology, electronic claim submission, accounts receivable follow-up and writing appeals is a must.
• An ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, and possess exceptional attention to detail.
• Review all face sheets for data accuracy and completion.
• When necessary, check for insurance information using computer/electronic eligibility applications.
• Make corrections, if necessary, on facesheets and on the computer system.
• Call patients as needed, to verify insurance information and update the system.
• Assist patients with setting up budget arrangements.
• Performs duties as assigned

Required:

• Physician Medical Practice billing experience required.
• Strong computer (eClinicalWorks and Meditech) experience
• Customer-service orientation
• High school diploma required.
• Bilingual English—Spanish preferred.
