About This Position
Policy Fellow, Broadband, Spectrum, and Space
Policy Fellow, Broadband, Spectrum, and Space (Paid)
The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a Washington, DC-based think tank, is seeking a summer intern to conduct research on broadband, spectrum, and/or space policy issues in the summer of 2026, starting on or after June 1, 2026. The ideal applicant should have a demonstrated interest in the intersection of technological innovation, connectivity policy, and/or commercial space development, as well as exceptional research, writing, and organizational abilities. Students with a strong interest in communications or space law and policy issues are especially encouraged to apply. The position is available on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours a week. Ideally, the applicant will be located in Washington, DC.
Essential responsibilities:
- Conduct research on active policy issues including broadband deployment and affordability, spectrum allocation, digital inclusion, satellite policy, and/or the commercial space economy.
- Identify and track regulatory and legislative developments on national and state levels.
- Help draft policy reports, regulatory comments, or op-eds.
- Provide research support (e.g., collecting and organizing data, writing literature reviews, summarizing comments, etc.).
- Attend relevant policy and networking events, Congressional hearings, and agency meetings to deepen policy knowledge and grow professional network.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate or graduate student in law, public policy, economics, political science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in broadband, telecommunications, space, innovation, or public policy.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent and detail-oriented research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Highly proactive and flexible, with an ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
