What you will be doing (essential responsibilities):

  • Create, review, and modify drawing sets and custom software tools
  • Follow standard operating procedures and protocol to ensure accuracy of design layouts
  • Design and specify electrical system details including conductor, conduit and overcurrent protection sizing, calculation and mitigation of voltage drop, single lines and connection diagrams
  • Perform engineering calculations per the NEC and building codes to properly size equipment
  • Size PV systems to customer’s requirements and electrical usage
  • Assure that the design/drafting timelines are met and on schedule
  • Gain a full understanding of the project scope, schedules, major priority items, achievements, and project coordination procedure
  • Coordinate with Project Coordinators to ensure the smooth flow of all information necessary for the completion of the overall project design/drafting effort
  • Look for and suggests improvements in assigned project areas
  • Verify that all drawings and vendor documents have been properly reviewed and assembled prior to submittal of plan sets
  • Complete AHJ revisions/corrections
  • Work with Permitting team to apply for and obtain building permits and expedite permitting when possible
  • Work with local permitting jurisdictions to assure that our proposals and designs meet their requirements
  • Self-proofing work to ensure accuracy before allowing any project to continue through the Pipeline
Requirements:

Your areas of knowledge and expertise...

  • Proficient in Sketchup, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional creative problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Proficient in basic accounting and advanced math
  • Experience with electrical or mechanical design
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code
  • Knowledge of current Building Codes
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to understand, read, and comprehends contract documents, plans and specifications
  • Ability to stay organized and maintains project records

Compensation:

The compensation range for this fulltime position is xxxxx. The base pay that will actually be offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.

Where you will sit & the places you may go…

The ideal candidate will sit in xxxxx. This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
