Recreation Leader at TOWNSHIP OF EDISON – EDISON, New Jersey

Responsible for monitoring, controlling and supervising the Recreation Community Center facility; ensuring the continuous, smooth implementation of daily programs, activities and planned events by the Recreation Department. This would include evenings, weekends and holidays. Responsibilities includes performing general administration and supervisory duties; including but not limited to taking program registration, answering phones and preparing reports on community center activities. Works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Director and/or his/her designee. Work Schedule: (25 hours max per week)Shifts Include: Weekdays; 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm or Weekends 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (shifts and locations are determined by department needs)Locations: Minnie B Veal Community Center (1070 Grove Ave), Thomas Jefferson Middle School (450 Division St) or Youth Sports Training Complex (370 Central Ave)All new employees must satisfactorily complete a drug screen and criminal background check. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Direct resident interaction; deal with upset patrons; direct patrons to proper room location; provide information to patrons on programs, classes and special events. Responsible for enforcing all Township, Recreation Department and Community Center rules and regulations. Responsible for setting up equipment for events such as meetings, classes, dances, and shows; and returning equipment to its proper place. Some equipment may weigh up to 50lbs. In addition, this position is responsible for the care and maintenance of all Recreation Department equipment, making sure equipment is available and in working condition. Additional Job Duties: Maintains the general cleanliness in and around the community center and provides back up support to other community center employees.
