This role plays a critical function in ensuring compliance, patient safety, and regulatory integrity across a national network of healthcare and transplant institutions. The Site Visit Lead/Investigator is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting both routine and investigative site visits, which may occur onsite or virtually. You will evaluate clinical and operational processes, ensuring alignment with federal regulations, OPTN policies, and patient safety standards. The position requires strong investigative judgment, clinical understanding, and the ability to coordinate complex multi-stakeholder engagements. Working closely with subject matter experts and federal partners, you will help identify risks, validate compliance gaps, and support corrective actions. This is a highly detail-oriented and mission-driven role that directly contributes to improving healthcare quality and transplant system oversight nationwide.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct routine and investigative site visits (onsite or virtual) across transplant hospitals, OPOs, and OPTN member institutions.
- Evaluate compliance with OPTN bylaws, federal regulations, and internal policies through structured audits and process assessments.
- Design detailed site visit execution plans, including agendas, checklists, logistics coordination, and team assignments.
- Collect, review, and document clinical and operational evidence such as medical records, workflows, interviews, and observations.
- Lead site visit execution while ensuring accuracy, objectivity, and adherence to compliance standards.
- Collaborate with federal partners, SMEs, and member institutions to coordinate schedules, access, and logistics.
- Draft comprehensive site visit reports summarizing findings, corrective actions, and follow-up requirements.
- Track and monitor site visit outcomes within broader case management and compliance systems.
- Identify and escalate risks, compliance gaps, and potential conflicts of interest during investigations.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by contributing to process refinement and follow-up actions.
- Bachelor’s degree required; RN or MSW preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, auditing, quality improvement, investigations, or project management.
- Strong clinical background, ideally in patient safety, transplant care, or regulated healthcare environments.
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with medical chart review and clinical process evaluation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex operational and clinical information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple site visits and logistics simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance and willing to travel up to 25%.
