As an Engineering Mechanic on the StuyTown team, you'll trouble shoot and make improvements to the place our residents call home.

What you will do:
  • Be an ambassador of the property by answering resident questions and be generally helpful while always representing our cultural responsibilities.
  • Efficiently complete all daily work orders in a specific amount of time. Communicate any delays in completing a work order with the supervisor and management office.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Monitor and operate over 1,300 control points on the BMS.
  • Respond to all emergency and non- emergency related calls.
  • Completion of paperwork/logs related to daily tasks, use hand devices related to such work as well.
  • Maintain all equipment in relation steam heat, hot and cold water supply.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment related to steam heat, cold and hot water equipment.
  • Replace mechanical equipment and perform steam line repairs as needed.
  • Perform repairs to system piping in relation to natural gas, vacuum pressure lines, and refrigeration.
  • Conduct building rounds and inspections. Responsible for recording all data pertaining to the mechanical equipment housed in the specific assigned rooms.
  • Participate in responsibilities for emergency response for fire, floods, snow etc.
  • Overnight shift in the absence of the handymen taking all emergency calls from tenants and security.
  • Escort all contractors to areas of detail.
What you should have:
  • 5+ years of comparable field experience.
  • Trade School or equivalent education is a plus
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Able to multi-task under high pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Weekends or overtime required on occasion A strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others
  • A belief that doing the right thing is the only option, no matter how difficult it might be
  • A willingness to respond to emergency situations no matter the time of day
  • A valid Driver's License must be enrolled in the New York State License Event Notification Service (LENS) program.
  • Ability to use tablet-based work order program to complete assigned work orders
  • Basic – Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Overtime is available and required in emergency situations
  • A strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others
  • Able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).

Base Salary: $43.04
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience & location.
