Job Summary
Reports to: Quality Manager
The QC Lab Tech is responsible for conducting a variety of analytical testing and support activities to ensure the integrity of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods. The role includes maintaining lab instruments, preparing solutions, performing calibrations, and providing support in compliance with internal and external quality standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform sampling and analysis on raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
- Enter analytical data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Conduct basic water treatment plant (WTP) sample analysis.
- Perform weekly instrument response checks.
- Create and/or review Certificates of Analysis (CoAs).
- Instruct and train team members on analytical methods.
- Prepare special product labels as required.
- Provide First Aid/CPR/AED emergency response when needed.
- Prepare non-critical lab solutions and solvents.
- Can change out critical solutions if it does not require standardization (such as HCL and NaOH solutions)
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Laboratory Technology or related science discipline required;
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong data entry and computer skills, especially with LIMS systems.
- Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, calibration techniques, and chemical solution preparation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a 12 hour rotating shift schedule, which may be adjusted based on production demands.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically able to operate variety of electronic office equipment – computer, printer, radio, phone.
- At times, prolonged periods of sitting at desk working on computer/workstation and on calls.
- May occasionally need to lift up to 50 pounds.
- May occasionally need to bend, stoop, reach and/or twist at the waist.
- Ability based upon position and need to perform duties/visit/walk through a manufacturing environment with the following conditions; chemical and mechanical operations, dust and fumes, working within safe but proximity to forklift and machine operations, exposure to heat and humidity, hearing or talking around loud machinery.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including lab coats, gloves, safety glasses, and respirators as necessary.
