Job Summary
Performs patient care and treatment activities on ambulance and demonstrates clinical competencies necessary to perform patient care functions as assigned to this position.

Working Conditions
Primarily Works in a well-lighted and air-conditioned environment with period of heavy workload and stress. This role may include working in less-than-ideal home conditions, which can include exposure to extreme temperatures and environments that may not meet typical cleanliness standards such as clutter, unkept surfaces, and homes with pets. Works in various conditions.

Resource Utilization: Consistently utilizes and maintains supplies and equipment to minimize lost charges and unnecessary equipment repair-replacement.
Confidentiality: Adheres to established policies on privacy and security requirements for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as applicable by Shannon Policy.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Responsible for safe handling of patent transport during loading and unloading, transport on stretcher, and actual transport on the ambulance.
- Maintain the ambulance in a clean, organized and response ready mode.
- When assigned as an Operator/Driver, will be responsible to always operate the assigned ambulance under control and in accordance with federal, state and local laws that govern ambulance operation, and in accordance with approved company policy and safe and efficient ambulance operation.
- Conducts an on-going assessment of patients clinical statics and utilizes the assessment information to plan and implement appropriate care and treatment of patients in accordance with department protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform care for patients of all age ranges.
- Assumes responsibility for preventing incidents that could lead to injury, promptly reports unsafe conditions that require actions from others, promptly reports incidents and completes paperwork, and consistently utilizes equipment properly.
- Administers medications in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications administered including normal dosages, side effects and expected outcomes. Documents according to policy and utilizes tools and resources to supplement knowledge.

Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Successful completion of an approved EMT-Paramedic program
Experience:
- Preferred
- Three years of experience in Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Critical Care Setting
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Current EMT-P license from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Licensed Paramedic
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of hire
- Preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
