About This Position

Job Title: Education Programs Coordinator

Reports to: Education Programs Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Classification: Full-Time


Job Summary:

As the Education Programs Coordinator at the Latino Film Institute, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the successful implementation of our education programs - YCP Signature, YCP Expanded Learning, and YCP Alumni Pathways. You will work closely with the education programs team, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality program delivery and continuous quality improvement, development of program deliverables, collaboration and other administrative tasks.


In addition to these responsibilities, the Education Programs Coordinator contributes to the development, depth, and expansion of YCP programs and services that embodies LFI's vision and core values. This role requires active engagement with filmmaking mentors, LFI personnel, and partners, serving as the representative of LFI at all times.


Duties/Responsibilities:


Program Coordination and Student Engagement

  • Maintain and facilitate the scheduling, program planning, and timeline for all Education Programs.

  • Coach YCP filmmaking mentors in effective program implementation, providing guidance on day-to-day challenges and supporting thoughtful problem-solving and idea development.

  • Communicate effectively with mentors regarding any relevant program information

  • Oversee long-term class cancellations, class reschedules and sub requests in a collaboration with the People & Culture Manager.

  • Manage communication with YCP classroom teachers, students, families and other stakeholders via text, phone, email and other communication tools

  • Monitor and track all classes, noting progress, deadlines, and concerns

  • Provide integral support in student recruitment, participation, and retention


Curriculum Development & Maintenance

  • Create all educational materials and docs for the program/curriculum in collaboration with the Education Programs Team.

  • Build and maintain Google Classroom with all education programs materials and resources.

  • Post, share and monitor mentor access to curriculum and classroom resources.


Mentor Support & Accountability

  • Track, monitor, and report mentor attendance and professional development needs

  • Support the Corrective Action Process when necessary

  • Report any modifications to Time and Attendance for YCP Filmmaking Mentors to the People & Culture Manager.

  • Supervise and train interns and/or volunteers when needed


Program Continuous Quality Improvement

  • Support and participate in the design, scheduling, and implementation of all trainings in collaboration with the department managers and Director of Education Programs.

  • Lead the mentor observations and evaluation process through the school year.

  • Manage the implementation of all program surveys for mentors, teachers and students.

  • Support the quality control of all program deliverables.

  • Support the data entry, tracking, reporting, and research of program data, as needed, to demonstrate program impact.

  • Actively participate in staff meetings, 1-on-1 meetings, and other collaborative opportunities.


Special Projects

  • Support the development and production of YCP@LALIFF

  • Support/lead program events including those outside of traditional work hours

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong strategic acumen with a history of developing and executing successful initiatives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Ability to function effectively in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Proficient with Google Suite, Canva or related software.



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.

  • Track record of successful coordination of youth programs or initiatives.

  • Deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in the entertainment industry.

  • Experience in project management and/or program development

  • Experience liaising and engaging various stakeholders including but not limited to youth, families, school district personnel, and community-based organizations

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at time.


Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee works in an environment where the noise level is usually moderate and constant distractions due to constant foot traffic, phones ringing, and people talking. Some instances require presence on K-12 school campuses around students.
