This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced tax professional to lead and shape the full tax function within a growing, dynamic organization. As the in-house tax lead, you will oversee compliance, reporting, and strategic planning across federal, state, and local tax obligations. The role combines hands-on execution with strategic advisory responsibilities, partnering closely with finance and operational leaders. You will drive tax efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement strong internal controls to support sustainable growth. This fully remote position offers visibility with leadership and the chance to influence key financial decisions in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Accountabilities:- Oversee all federal, state, and local tax compliance, including corporate income, franchise, sales/use, property, payroll, and industry-specific taxes.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize liabilities, support growth initiatives, and improve cash flow efficiency.
- Ensure proper payroll tax treatment, including stock-based compensation where applicable.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential financial and operational impacts.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and regulatory reporting in partnership with accounting and finance teams.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, identifying and implementing process improvements within tax operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 610 years of progressive tax experience, including public accounting and/or in-house corporate tax roles.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate and state income tax; experience with sales/use tax, payroll tax, and industry-specific taxes preferred.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end tax compliance and planning responsibilities independently.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and translate them into actionable guidance.
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, mid-sized organization requiring adaptability, collaboration, and ownership.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
