Commercial Security Installation Technician

Job Summary: The Commercial Installation Technician at SafeTouch Security is responsible for installing, configuring, and servicing integrated security systems, including fire alarms, intrusion systems, access control, CCTV, intercom systems, and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, hands-on experience with security systems, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and test commercial security systems, including fire alarms, intrusion, access control, CCTV, and intercom systems.
- Ensure proper placement, clean wiring, and secure mounting of devices, cameras, sensors, and control panels in compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Perform site preparation tasks as needed, including drilling, digging, trenching, concrete cutting, excavating, backfilling, and compacting to support system installations.
- Mix and prepare construction materials according to job specifications.
- Provide technical support and user training to clients on system operation and functionality.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure installations are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Complete required documentation, including service reports, work orders, and system diagrams.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring readiness for each project.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site, including thorough daily and project-end cleanup.
- Deliver professional customer service by responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and maintaining clear communication.
- Coordinate with internal departments to support seamless project execution.
- Follow safety procedures and keep the job site clean, organized, and hazard-free, including thorough clean-up at the end of each project and workday.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours service needs.
- Perform additional duties as required to support evolving business needs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or relevant training preferred.
- Experience installing commercial security systems, including access control, low voltage, intrusion systems, fire systems, electrical systems, intercom, CCTV, and Video Management Systems (VMS), or related technical experience.
- Strong working knowledge of security system components, wiring, networking, and applicable electrical codes and regulations. ability to read drawings.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and ability to interpret installation plans and blueprints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant business applications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurance-approved driving record and the ability to maintain compliance with SafeTouch’s fleet driving policy.
- Pass a drug screen and background check.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including in attics, crawl spaces, and on rooftops.
- Stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods.
- Navigate uneven or slippery surfaces and perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, drilling, cutting, and sawing.
- Lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Operate hand tools, power equipment, and heavy machinery safely, with adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.
- Read and review documents on electronic devices and in hard copy, observe details at close range, and accurately exchange information in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in both individual and group settings.
- Drive to and from work and client sites as business needs require.
- May be exposed to loud noise environments.
Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt
Work Hours/Availability:
- Regular schedule: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, with overtime as business needs require.
- Training schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday during the initial training period.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, with a $75 stipend for each assigned on-call period.
Travel: 25 – 30%, including some potential overnight stays.

Pay Range: $28 - $35/hour
