What you’ll be doing

The Maintenance & Engineering Manager is responsible for and supervises the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities used by the organization. This position is also responsible for the ownership and management of engineering and technical capital projects, including cost, schedule, scope, and execution. Must be comfortable working in a rapidly growing company with a fast-track capital execution plan.

Location: Solon, OH area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively ensure that the facility is fully operational with all utilities and production equipment functioning properly and safely. Develop records to track failures and recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Schedule and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance work and assist with checking installation and servicing building equipment and manufacturing equipment
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of technicians and engineers to enhance their professional growth and capabilities.
  • Review reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Oversee security of buildings and grounds
  • Maintain ongoing communication with contractors, customers, and the team.
  • Collaborate with other appropriate management staff to prepare and implement the budget.
  • Identify, develop, and gather resources necessary to complete approved projects.
  • Plan and direct design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers, both internal and external, working on specific projects.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs.
  • Oversee construction and equipment testing to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Evaluate and approve changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project.
  • Monitor progress and performance against the project plan and schedule.
  • Anticipate operational challenges and take action to resolve and minimize project impacts.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and work to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
  • Review industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical support for the engineering process.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate various departments’ specialized contributions to the development of the project.
  • Prepare engineering designs and work specifications.
  • Responsibly utilizes resources and controls expenses to meet budgetary constraints.
  • Select materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
  • Oversee all levels of staff activity and performance, including a documented, routine performance management process and development plan for each team member.
  • Hire, train, and develop a high-performing team to deliver results. Assigns stretch goals to further train and enhance staff development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a maintenance management role with experience in executing projects up to $500,000.
  • Expert knowledge in plant engineering and maintenance management.
  • Proven ability to manage schedule, resources, and budget.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations from OSHA, EPA, or others.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the areas of mechanical and electrical systems, electronics, environmental health & safety, quality assurance, risk analysis, and engineering codes.
  • Strong team leadership and building skills and the ability to develop highly effective maintenance repair teams.
  • Excellent communication skills. Required to effectively communicate with company employees, contractors, and government officials.
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology, including Microsoft, ERP systems, and maintenance management software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities.
  • Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to move through the warehouse 60% of the time and remain in a stationary position 40% of the time. The employee is required to consistently position themself as appropriate to maintain equipment in the warehouse and progress production cycles. The employee will occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Employees will occasionally use computers, phones, copiers, and other office equipment in a day.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This may include warm, hot, or cold temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
