Position Summary
The Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer reports to the assigned Team Leader and is responsible for the direct supervision, certification, and release to service of maintenance activities for the 42SQN King Air fleet, including associated air and ground-based training systems. This role ensures all maintenance is performed in compliance with Company standards, New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) requirements, and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations.

Work Environment
The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional high volume when aircrafts arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.

Position Summary

Main Responsibilities
1. People & Leadership
- Demonstrate and uphold Jet Aviation values: Trust, Honesty, Alignment, and Transparency.
- Provide supervision and oversight of maintenance tasks as required.
- Support, guide, and mentor AME and apprentice personnel in their development in consultation with the Team Leader.
- Actively pursue opportunities for ongoing professional development.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable CAA and NZDF regulatory requirements and share relevant updates with the team.
- Ensure personal compliance with Base Ohakea access requirements, mandatory training, and health and security currency, proactively coordinating renewals with the Team Leader.
2. Tools, Equipment & Materials
- Ensure only approved tools, equipment, and materials are used in all maintenance activities, in accordance with approved procedures.
- Raise and manage requests for replacement or new tooling in line with established tooling control processes.
3. Component & Material Control
- Ensure all components, parts, and consumables are properly controlled, handled, and documented in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
4. Maintenance Data & Documentation
- Ensure all maintenance data used is current and maintained at the latest revision status, and is readily accessible when required.
5. Maintenance Execution, Planning & Records
- Provide direct supervision of maintenance activities as required, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to agreed standards.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation, certification, and records are completed accurately and in full compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
6. Occurrence Reporting & Technical Support
- Immediately report any aircraft or component condition that may affect or compromise flight safety to the Team Leader.
- Support technical investigations and assist in implementing corrective actions as directed.
7. Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in, comply with, and promote WHS, environmental programs, and the Aviation Safety Management System.
- Support corrective and preventive actions arising from audits and compliance activities.
- Maintain high standards of hangar housekeeping, including proactive FOD management.
- Encourage and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance processes and procedures.
- Promote clear, open communication regarding maintenance activities, defects, and non-compliances.
8. Facilities & Working Environment
- Monitor hangar and facility conditions and escalate any concerns to the Team Leader in a timely manner.
9. Additional Duties
- Undertake any other duties as directed by the Team Leader to support operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Hold a valid aircraft maintenance engineer licence issued by CAA NZ in accordance with Part 66, with appropriate ratings.
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems.
- Sound knowledge of the Civil Aviation Act, Civil Aviation Rules, and Advisory Circulars.
- Knowledge of New Zealand Defence Aviation Regulations (preferred).
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
