Overview
COLUMBIA Construction Support Engineering has openings for highly motivated engineers to provide support for construction and delivery of material and missile tubes to the United Kingdom in support of the DREADNOUGHT Class. In this role, engineers will be expected to provide comprehensive technical oversight of construction activities and will interface with Design and Engineering, Ship's Management, Program Office, Detail Planning, Design Build Sustain, Operations, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), PMS397, UK Ministry of Defence and BAE Systems in order to support delivery of material.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing engineering support to SUPSHIP during conformance audits and material turnover
- Ensuring drawing revisions and change notices that support construction activities are being prioritized and worked
- Acting as technical authority point of contact providing oversight for translation of drawings into work orders and instructions
- Confirming that material procurement activities are completed in a manner that supports kit schedules
- Developing list of audit-able material and joints for use in the SUPSHIP audits
- Provide engineering oversight to emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction
- Provide surveillance of manufacturing inspection and testing of material at Quonset Point
This position will be primarily working in Eagle Park with occasional travel to Quonset Point, Rhode Island.

The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Candidate must be highly motivated and be able to perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Aerospace or Construction engineering
- 1-4 years of post-graduate engineering experience
- Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required
