About the role

Supervised by: Water Team Co-Lead

Location: 1520 Queen St. E., Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 2G4

Supervises: None

Wages: $17.60 per hour

Duration of employment: 8 weeks

Anticipated start date: May 18

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating water quality monitoring.
  • Train community members in water quality monitoring using Water Rangers Testkits
  • Manage Water Ranger Testkits, supplies, maintenance and calibration cycles.
  • Organize community and youth events for water quality information, training and recruitment (one per week)
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Contribute to a community -based science newsletter
  • Create a community field guide
  • Collect water quality data from northern Great Lakes waters
  • Analyze data collected – trends etc.
  • Create technical report for community water quality data – showing trends and findings
  • Create and present findings to community members

Qualifications:

  • Need to work on-site
  • Have a G2 or G class driver's license
  • Early career worker
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age
  • You are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or someone who has been officially granted refugee protection in Canada. International applicants need not apply.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (which means you must have a valid Social Insurance Number)
