About This Position
The Automotive Sales Lot Porter is responsible for the overall presentation, organization, and movement of vehicles on the dealership lot. This role supports daily sales operations by ensuring the inventory is clean, accessible, and well-maintained, contributing to a safe and customer-ready environment. This position plays a vital part in dealership efficiency, appearance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Organization & Movement
- Organize and park vehicles on the lot in an orderly, visually appealing manner.
- Move vehicles to support daily operations, including test drives, customer delivery, and showroom changes.
- Assist in transporting vehicles between dealership locations, service departments, or external vendors as needed.
- Lot & Inventory Readiness
- Ensure all vehicles on the lot are clean, fueled, and photo-ready for display and sale.
- Confirm each vehicle has appropriate window stickers, license plates, and identification tags.
- Notify management of any vehicle condition issues such as damage, missing keys, or dead batteries.
- Customer & Team Support
- Assist the sales team in locating specific inventory for customer inquiries or test drives.
- Prepare sold vehicles for customer pickup, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
- Maintain clean and safe customer parking areas and dealership grounds.
- New Inventory Processing
- Assist with checking in new vehicle arrivals and updating stock numbers and tags.
- Record vehicle conditions and report transport damage or irregularities.
- General Lot Maintenance
- Monitor lot cleanliness, remove debris, and ensure walkways and display areas are clear and safe.
- Report facility-related concerns to management, such as lighting, signage, or lot hazards.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional lot at all times.
- Complete vehicle movements and assignments in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
- Demonstrate reliability through punctuality and consistent attendance.
- Communicate clearly with sales and management teams regarding vehicle availability or issues.
- Adhere to dealership safety protocols and operational policies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable, professional, and team oriented.
