Health Information Technician II at Central Peninsula Hospital – Soldotna, Alaska

POSITION SUMMARY: The HIM Tech II provides daily coding support, daily documentation analysis and deficiency monitoring/ reporting. This position also supports other departmental functions, as needed, including release of information, document imaging and customer service. This position works with multiple software systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years health information management (HIM) experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to objectively problem solve.
• Moderate computer software skills – Microsoft Office, email and electronic calendar (Outlook).
• Comfort learning/using a variety of computer systems, and both electronic and paper media.
• Excellent demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Ability to work well with others and is receptive to constructive feedback from co-workers.

PREFERRED:

• Associate's or Bachelor's in Health Information Management
• 1 year hospital coding experience preferred.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
