We are currently seeking a detailed-oriented Accounts Payable and Inventory Controller to grow our Accounting Team. The successful candidate must have access to reliable transportation as our location is not accessible via public transit.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounts Payable and Inventory Controller will work in-office on a full-time basis and is best suited for someone looking to grow their career as an Accounting Professional. Preferential treatment will be given to candidates pursuing their Chartered Professional Accountant designation or ACCA designation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Accounts Payable Processing and Vendor Management

  • Set up vendors in the accounting system, including posting groups and field mappings to support invoice automation.
  • Code, enter, and ensure accurate recording of invoices in Microsoft Business Central.
  • Coordinate and process invoice approvals with authorized personnel through to posting.
  • Schedule and process payments, including EFTs, wire transfers, and cheques
  • Reconcile vendor statements, identify missing documentation, analyze purchasing trends, and highlight overpayment recovery opportunities.

Inventory Control and Management

  • Perform three-way matching of vendor invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents for inventory and major expenses.
  • Develop a strong understanding of products and inventory in collaboration with the product development team.
  • Reconcile and allocate inventory-related costs (e.g., freight, duties, factory costs) to ensure accurate costing and valuation.
  • Oversee inventory cycle counts, monitor procedures, and report material variances to management.
  • Compare costing data across systems, analyze inventory trends (slow/fast-moving, at-risk), and ensure accurate month-end inventory reporting.

General Administrative Duties

  • Maintain organized digital records of vendor documentation and transaction files
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve information gaps and support cash flow needs; participate in department meetings
  • Support the accounting team with ad-hoc tasks as assigned, coordinating priorities with management when needed
  • Reconcile employee credit cards monthly and ensure all transactions are properly recorded
  • Monitor and respond to vendor inquiries through a shared accounts payable inbox

WHO YOU ARE

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Office 365 applications, and experience with a ERP System or Inventory Costing system is highly desired.
  • A keen attention-to-detail and demonstrated experience in high volume environments is highly desired.
  • Ability to self-troubleshoot through inventory discrepancies and resolve invoicing disputes is highly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills is highly desired.
