This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and execution of a large-scale institutional fundraising portfolio. You will lead a high-performing team while personally managing key funder relationships, translating complex programs into compelling funding opportunities, and ensuring revenue targets are consistently met. The role requires balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, building robust systems for team effectiveness, and fostering collaboration across Development, Programs, Finance, and Executive Leadership. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, philanthropy, and organizational alignment, shaping the future of institutional giving while mentoring and inspiring your team.
- Own the strategy and execution of a multi-million dollar institutional giving portfolio, driving revenue growth across national systems and place-based initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Institutional Giving Directors, setting clear expectations and fostering accountability for results.
- Personally manage relationships with the organization’s most strategic funders, including executive-level engagement with leadership.
- Translate complex programmatic initiatives into compelling narratives, high-quality proposals, and funding strategies that resonate with diverse institutional funders.
- Build and maintain systems, processes, and workflows that strengthen fundraising effectiveness and organizational capacity.
- Partner cross-functionally with program, finance, and executive leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and student impact goals.
- Monitor portfolio performance, set institutional fundraising priorities, and ensure the achievement of ambitious revenue targets.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in institutional fundraising or development within mission-driven organizations.
- Proven success leading institutional fundraising strategy and managing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to secure substantial multi-year investments from private foundations, corporations, and public funders.
- Experience managing complex, diversified portfolios across multiple regions or community contexts.
- Exceptional communication skills, including advanced proposal and grant writing expertise.
- Strong strategic thinking, organization, and execution in fast-paced, results-oriented environments.
- Ability to mentor and inspire staff while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with program, finance, and executive teams to advance organizational priorities.

- Competitive salary range: $156,808–$217,686 per year, with starting salaries adjusted for experience and role level.
