Job Summary

The Café & Catering Associate is a versatile, hands-on role that provides critical support in daily café operations, including food preparation, café maintenance, and assisting the Café Manager as second-in-command. In addition to café responsibilities, this role supports catering for meetings and events, assists with administrative tasks within Corporate Administration, and provides backup reception coverage as needed. This is a dynamic position ideal for someone who enjoys working in food service while supporting workplace hospitality and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Café Operations (Primary Responsibility):

  • Assist the Café Manager with all aspects of daily café operations, including food preparation, cooking assistance, and maintaining health code standards.
  • Perform daily cleaning of café areas, kitchen equipment, and tools to ensure a safe, sanitary environment.
  • Stock and restock café products, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate with vendors for deliveries.
  • Serve as a second-in-command to the Café Manager, supporting workflow, training, and operational consistency.

Catering & Event Support:

  • Assist with catering setup, breakdown, and cleanup for meetings, conferences, and special events.
  • Coordinate conference room setups and ensure meeting spaces are reset with necessary supplies.
  • Greet and assist guests during events to ensure a positive experience.

Corporate Administration & Reception Support:

  • Provide backup coverage at the reception desk, greeting visitors, issuing temporary badges, and maintaining daily logs.
  • Assist with office supply management and vendor coordination.
  • Process expense reports for Corporate Administration as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including support for special projects and events.
Requirements:
  • Experience in food service, office services, facilities, or a similar role preferred.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain NMED-approved Food Handler Card
  • Experience with expense reimbursement/management procedures a plus.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including email and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing needs.
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal office hours when called upon for coverage and special events.
  • Familiarity with or passion for food service, vendor management, and event coordination.
  • Customer service experience in a professional environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
