About the role

Responsible for duties involving repairs and maintenance of structures, electrical systems, plumbing, washers and dryers, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in compliance with government and management directives.

What you'll do

• Perform advanced maintenance and repair of facility structures, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, and mechanical equipment.

• Respond and correct emergency repairs during after-hours as needed.

• Provide effective leadership, oversight, and support to Maintenance Engineer I and Maintenance Technicians.

• Oversee execution of the Center’s preventive maintenance (PM) program, including scheduling, compliance tracking, and documentation standards.

• Coordinate and monitor vendor work, including reviewing proposals, supervising work performed onsite, and verifying completion and quality of work.

• Support building compliance efforts by coordinating required inspections (fire/life safety, HVAC, backflow prevention, etc.) and maintaining records.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues related to facility operations.

• Assist in planning and implementing major repair and renovation projects.

• Maintain compliance with OSHA, building codes, and Job Corps safety regulations.

• Oversee technical aspects of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work orders.

• Ensure emergency maintenance needs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and system upgrades through Asset Essential platform.

• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and other maintenance personnel as needed.

• Provide training and technical guidance to maintenance technicians and helpers.

• Operate and maintain specialized maintenance equipment and tools.

• Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements.

• Operate in accordance with requirements set in the contract, PRH, guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and corporate policies.

• Complete all required training according to Job Corps and Company training schedule.

• Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.

• Contribute to cultivation of positive Center culture which is free of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

• Promote youth development by treating students respectfully as adults and developing positive student relationships.

• Promote development of Career Success Standards by modeling expected behaviors, mentoring students and fellow staff to aid in their growth, and monitoring student behavior for accountability and recognition.

• Provide quality customer service to students, staff, and other Center customers.

• Participate in student employability programs and activities.

• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.

• Maintain a safe and clean work area, adhering to all safety guidelines.

• Must be able to life up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform work in varying environmental conditions.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency required; technical certification or vocational training in engineering, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems preferred.

• Minimum of five years of experience in advanced facility maintenance, engineering, or a related field.

• Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex maintenance issues.

• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

• Ability to operate specialized maintenance equipment and tools.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.


The pay range for this role is:
28.50 - 30 USD per hour(St. Louis JCC Main)
