The Department of Sociology, Egyptology and Anthropology (SEA) at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is seeking to recruit an Assistant or Associate Professor of Sociology. The area of expertise is open but special consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate the capacity to teach and supervise in the area of urban sociology. The position will be subject to a four-year contract with opportunities for renewal where the candidate is able to meet departmental renewal and promotion criteria. Candidates with experience in and familiarity with the North American higher education system are preferred.
Job Requirements:
A PhD in Sociology or a closely related field and a demonstrable record of teaching that illustrates an ability to teach a variety of courses in the BA in Sociology and the MA in Sociology and Anthropology programs at AUC, including those with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa. Special consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate an ability to teach courses and supervise research in the field of urban sociology. Candidates must also demonstrate an active research and publication record commensurate with their rank as well as experience of service and program administration.
