Job Summary

The Engineering Manager will oversee design, analysis, and implementation of engineering projects while fostering collaboration between engineering, operations, and project management teams. By combining technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement, this role ensures projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget, supporting the company’s mission to deliver exceptional service and value to our customers. This position typically reports to the Director of Operations or other individual as assigned by management and has 2 or more direct reports.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain expert level of product knowledge.
  • Hire, manage, train, coach, and develop engineering staff including performance management and professional development.
  • Assign work, set priorities, and ensure adequate resource coverage across engineering and regional teams.
  • Oversee engineering design, analysis, documentation, and ensure adherence to odes, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables for accuracy, compliance, and quality.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks and issues impacting project delivery.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution by coordinating with CSRs, warehouse, project management, field installation, and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as first-level contact for internal/external escalations for engineering matters.
  • Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.
  • Track timeline of deals between assessment, quotes, closing and installation.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Key Performance Measurements:

· Score card that reflects assessment proposal and turnaround in days, number of deals quoted, total amount and percentage of successful sales, percentage of gross profit, and related metrics.

· Management observation regarding quality of solutions, presentations, and support of assigned team.

· Other key performance measurements as assigned.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED, required.

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, preferred or equivalent experience in a similar role.

· 5+ years of experience in engineering.

· 2+ years in a leadership role.

· Must pass a background check and drug screen.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Visio and AutoCad.

· Ability to read, comprehend, and describe architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.

· Conceptual understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems, network communications technology – Internet, Intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.

· Understanding of collocation and data center technologies, DC power plant systems, fiber connectivity, and cabling.

· Familiarity with telecommunications transport equipment and outside plant construction.

· Ability to organize work and work independently, with limited supervision.

· Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds across locations and departments.

· Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.

· Capable of clearly articulating ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs.

· Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.

· Capacity to adapt to a fast-changing environment.

· Available for travel up to 20-30% of the time, some overnight travel required.
