This role leads the development and application of advanced machine learning models across personal loan and credit card businesses, directly influencing credit strategy, risk management, and customer acquisition. The Sr. Director of Data Science manages a high-performing team, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to design, implement, validate, and scale data-driven solutions. The role requires translating complex modeling into actionable business insights, evaluating third-party solutions, and driving measurable results. - Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts to design and develop machine learning models for credit acquisition, line assignment, pricing, credit line management, and fraud detection
- Manage the full modeling lifecycle, including model design, development, validation, performance tracking, and deployment
- Collaborate with credit strategy teams, product owners, and third-party solution providers to deliver scalable, high-ROI AI solutions
- Translate complex modeling outputs into actionable business insights and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
- Drive innovation and challenge the status quo by introducing new modeling approaches, techniques, and technologies
- Ensure regulatory compliance, data security, and best practices across all data science initiatives
- Oversee prioritization of projects, balancing time-to-market expectations with organizational cost and impact
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience in credit card modeling or consumer lending analytics
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing teams
- M.S. or Ph.D. in statistics, computer science, engineering, economics, or a related technical field
- Strong expertise in machine learning, AI, data analysis, and applying these skills to business problems
- Hands-on experience with Python, Spark, SQL, Tableau, and cloud-based environments (Google Cloud preferred)
- Proven ability to formulate business problems and guide teams to deliver results in agile, fast-paced environments
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in plain language
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in consumer lending is highly desirable
