About This Position

Sr. Procurement Manager

Reports to: Director, Procurement

Direct Reports: Yes

Location: New Albany, MS (On-Site)

Employment Type: Full Time

Starting Salary: $100,000, plus a 10% bonus. This represents the starting point, with the potential for higher compensation based on experience, education, location, and other relevant qualifications.

Summary:

Directs the company’s procurement activities and manages inventory levels to support company revenue forecast.

Examples of Duties:

  • Manages purchasing assistants or buyers.
  • Provides training, guidance, and performance management to assure an efficient, highly motivated work team. Exercises control in matters of hiring, firing, evaluating, disciplining, communicating, training, and motivating subordinate supervisors and personnel within approved RSG guidelines.
  • Collaborates with peers to improve interactions between departments. Develops processes to measure and continuously improve supply chain performance as measured by impact on internal and external customers. Leads and facilitates cross-functional and multi-company process improvement projects. Defines and maintains project scopes and schedule timelines.
  • Supports strategic supply activities at a group level, including analysis of commodity spend, leveraging the group’s common information technology platform, administration of sourcing events, etc. Directs high-level negotiations with major suppliers of commodities and components.
  • Monitors market conditions throughout the supply chain and takes steps to anticipate and adjust to potential threats such as shortages, changes in vendor focus or financial condition, price increases and quality problems. Keeps peers informed of issues that may impact sales, finance, or operations.
  • Researches, identifies, and implements best practices for materials administration.
  • Directs materials activities to meet goals for working capital and other financial metrics. Reviews and approves large transactions, ensuring that the timing and expensing of transactions is in line with financial guidelines. Ensures that inventory is managed to maximize turnover and minimize carrying costs.
  • Develops budgets for materials functions. Monitors and controls spending within budget parameters. Evaluates workload and productivity improvement opportunities and recommends headcount changes as appropriate.

Professional & Personal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment including five years of materials leadership experience.
  • Substantial knowledge of supply chain concepts and issues related to the needs of refrigeration manufacturing.
  • Very strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Very strong supervision skills.
  • Very strong analytical skills, including use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers.
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize and manage competing tasks and projects.
  • Ability to maintain focus and composure under time pressure and other sources of stress.
  • Ability to lead others and influence them to support work unit and company objectives.
  • Ability to mentor and develop others.
