About This Position
AHL Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program is a part of our behavioral health division, in this program we use an evidence-based approach for treating opioid and alcohol use disorders that combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies. MAT helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, supports recovery, and improves overall functioning. When paired with comprehensive care, MAT has been shown to increase treatment retention and reduce the risk of relapse and overdose.
The MAT medical assistant plays a key support role in both clinical and administrative tasks to help patients receive safe, consistent care for substance use disorders.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Medical assistant training required.
3. RMA, NCMA or CCMA certification preferred.
Experience
6 months prior MA health care experience or as an Intern.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records required.
2. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Exhibits calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions.
3. High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality.
4. Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
5. Deal with and/or solve stressful situations.
6. Communicate with patients, providers, and other members of the healthcare team in verbal and written form.
7. Provides safe and effective nursing care.
8. Maintains professional composure under stress as in emergency situations.
