Overview

We are looking for a Jr. Engineer based in Pearl River, NY. The client for this role is the NYS Office of General Services (OGS)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in meeting department goals and serve as the link between engineering/ architectural and administrative program areas.
  • Manage and review multiple small to medium complex sustainability projects in the planning, design, and construction stages within the Division of Environmental Programs. Projects may focus on electric vehicle charging stations, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, sustainable HVAC systems.
  • Work closely with multiple client agencies to manage project development, budgets, and schedules.
  • Work with local, state, and federal agencies and municipalities to coordinate work and obtain approvals.
  • Schedule, coordinate, review and provide project management or both in-house and consultant work.
  • Consult with architects, engineers, estimators, specification writers, other building construction program managers and client agencies.
  • Independently resolve problems that arise.
  • Support of various projects throughout OGS D&C proving expertise related to sustainability and resiliency.
  • Lead and implement the development of internal protocol tracking related to implementation of energy efficiency projects and low impact design.
  • Present to internal staff and external stakeholders on how OGS D&C is incorporating climate related initiatives into projects.
  • Attend conferences and develop relationships with industry leaders.
  • Promote and communicate sustainability initiatives with internal staff and client agencies.
  • Supervise the work of lower-level Engineers and Technical staff.
  • Provide technical assistance to other divisions within OGS D&C.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Some travel is required.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural technology, building science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, construction technology, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in architecture, architectural technology, building science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, construction technology, or related field may substitute for one year experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation, with sufficient knowledge of all facets of construction and construction documents.
  • Professional experience in preparing, implementing or reviewing plans and technical specifications, coordinating and communicating with construction material manufacturers and suppliers, and document control.
  • Demonstrates an interest in advancing sustainability and resiliency within the built environment.
  • Competent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic technical writing proficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Envision, Well-Building or LEED certification is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training certificate or proof of passing the FE, or Professional Engineering license in NY is a plus.

Compensation range: Min: $75,000 - Max: $95,000/yr

The range provided is the salary that the firm in good faith believes at the time of this posting is willing to pay for the advertised position.
