About This Position

Description:

Assists with the parking/retrieval of guests’ vehicles. This position is also responsible for welcoming guests, assisting with luggage, providing directions, and any other related assistance. Monitors and maintains safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas and report any security or safety problems.

PREREQUISITES

Company associates have access to guestrooms and property. As such, character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential to this position and must be displayed at all times. Per company policy, potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have a clear MVR. MVR will be routinely checked.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous driving and valet experience preferred.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to perform major life activities: Standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
  • Must be able to lift and carry push and pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel.
  • Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to communicate with other associates and/or guests.
Requirements:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

  • Traffic patterns around the property.
  • Valet parking procedures.
  • Area shopping, dining, entertainment and travel directions to assist guest inquiries.
  • Entire property, staff, services, hours of operation, type of rooms, locations, rates, discounts.
  • Familiar with LBA policies and procedures

Skills:

  • Drive and operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

Abilities:

  • Able to communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.
  • Able to effectively park and retrieve guests cars without causing damage to the vehicle.
  • Enjoys interacting with guests.
  • Multi task, remain associate and guest service centric.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Open hotel main doors and assist guests/visitors entering and leaving the property.
  2. Assist guests with opening/closing vehicle doors.
  3. Welcome guests and visitors with appropriate greetings of the day.
  4. Acknowledge and greet guests within 25 to 30 seconds and provide professional, fast and friendly service.
  5. Tag guest vehicle keys with date & time, registration number, make/model, room number or contact number of the guest.
  6. Provide correct receipt of valet parking to the guest.
  7. Verify guests receipt with the one attached to the key before handing over keys or vehicle to the guest.
  8. Give fond farewell to all guests who are departing as per hotel standard.
  9. Monitor and direct personal and commercial vehicle traffic on property, including guest vehicles, taxi cabs, limousines, and buses.
  10. Ensure vehicles are legally parked and in a manner that maintains a smooth and efficient flow of traffic.
  11. Ensure all guests’ valet experience are memorable, unique and as per the hotel's standards.
  12. Responsible to maintain the security of vehicles, belongings kept inside the car and vehicle keys.
  13. Responsible to follow up with guests to ensure their requests or problems have been met to their satisfaction.
  14. Responsible for opening and closing parking area or facility.
  15. Document and report all vehicle incidents like damages, accidents, theft, missing articles etc..
  16. Review shift logs/daily memo books and document any relevant details or information in logbook.
  17. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor or manager.
  18. Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas, portico and behind the valet stand.
  19. Responsible to report any security or safety problems, safety hazards and potential security problems to the supervisors.
  20. Practices safety standards at all times and is alert to hazardous conditions. Reports any hazardous conditions immediately to the hotel General manager or appropriate staff member.
  21. Other duties as assigned, that the individual is capable of carrying out.

WORKING CONDITIONS/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires a physical presence at the hotel and is not conducive of telecommuting or remote work.
  • Standing, walking for long periods of time while maintaining a friendly professional image.
  • May be required to work any day/shift, including weekends.
  • Random drug screens will be conducted throughout employment.
