Career Opportunity: Resource Social Worker

Location: Prince George, BC

Employment Type: Term – Ending November 16, 2026 (35 hours per week)

The Opportunity:

  • Determines appropriate resources for the placement of children being brought into care under the CFCSA and coordinates out-of-region placements if required.
  • Liaises with other delegated Aboriginal agencies and MCFD regarding placements of children in care by participating in Integrated Case Management meetings on a regular basis to discuss and report on specific placement issues and general outstanding resource issues.
  • Facilitates the provision of family care resources and extended family resources for children-in-care by recruiting, orienting, studying, recommending for approval and training and monitoring foster parents.
  • Provides ongoing evaluation and assessment of a child’s progress during placemen to assist in the planning process.
  • Supports foster homes and contracted resource providers by interpreting CSFS policy and requirements to service providers in a positive manner ensuring that requirements for use of resources are clarified, understood and met.

What You Will Bring to The Role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services related field (Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, and Theology)
  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a family service or child and youth service environment and/or previous child welfare experience (resources, guardianship or child protection-preferably you will have you child welfare specialization)
  • Must possess and maintain a C4 or greater delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA), or the ability to attend training to obtain C4 delegation.

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $41.73 to $54.04 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
