What You’ll Do
As an Imaging Clerical Rep, you will report to the Manager of Imaging Informatics and monitors the daily function of the Imaging Applications. Interacts with internal and external customers for training or issue resolution.
Imaging Clerical Rep Job Responsibilities:
- Provides imaging secretarial support, including answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries appropriately
- Coordinates minor departmental projects and supports timely completion of supervisor-assigned tasks
- Orients new department staff to office procedures and practices
- Operates standard office equipment (computer, phone, fax, copier, etc.)
- Registers patients by collecting and entering demographic, physician, and insurance information into hospital systems
- Verifies insurance eligibility, benefits, and medical necessity; completes ABNs and MSP questionnaires as required
- Collects and processes patient payments and ensures proper documentation and receipts
- Coordinates pre-certification and verification of benefits processes, including follow-up with insurance companies and physician offices
- Provides patient cost estimates and ensures required signatures for consent and insurance forms
- Maintains patient accounts, logs, and charts to support accurate billing and claims processing
- Participates in education and training, including meetings, in-services, and competency requirements
- Assists in training new and existing staff and implements procedural updates from educational materials and communications
- Ensures proficiency in office, registration, and imaging systems and supports ongoing digital imaging education
- Provides professional, customer-focused service to patients, families, and visitors while representing the organization
- Maintains accurate records, reports, and departmental files
- Performs advanced system functions across PACS, Aspen, and Cerner, including image management, scheduling, documentation, and report handling
- Communicates effectively with coordinators, supervisors, and leadership regarding issues or concerns
- Completes additional duties and projects as assigned to support departmental efficiency and service quality
What You Bring
As an Imaging Clerical Rep, you will provide imaging secretarial support by answering telephone calls, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries appropriately, as well as coordinating minor departmental projects and assisting with timely completion of supervisor-assigned tasks. Orients new staff to office and department procedures, operates standard office equipment, and registers patients by collecting and accurately entering demographic, physician, and insurance information into hospital systems. Verifies insurance eligibility, benefits, and medical necessity, completes required documentation such as ABNs and MSP questionnaires, and coordinates pre-certification and verification of benefits processes with insurance companies and physician offices. Collects and processes patient payments, provides cost estimates, and ensures all required consent and insurance forms are completed and signed. Maintains patient accounts, logs, and charts to support accurate billing and claims processing. Participates in ongoing education and training, including meetings, in-services, and competency requirements, while assisting in training new and existing staff and implementing procedural updates. Maintains proficiency in PACS, Aspen, and Cerner systems, performing functions such as image management, scheduling, documentation, report handling, and data entry. Provides professional, patient-focused service while maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with departmental leadership. Completes additional duties and projects as assigned to support departmental efficiency and overall service quality.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
- Experience with Computer Applications and Information Systems Applications preferred.
- One to two years of job-related experience is preferred.
- Strongly prefer two to three years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of Dicom computer language preferred.
- Medical Terminology and Radiology environment experience preferred.
- Use of applications listed in essential job duties can be acquired through on-the-job training.
