POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Benefit Specialist administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as a liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefit-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The Human Resource Benefit Specialist ensures that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.

CLEVELAND AREA HOSPITAL is an independent, self-managed Critical Access Hospital, half an hour west of Tulsa, Oklahoma. PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
- Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personnel, disability, and FMLA.
- Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absence/disabilities.
- Answering Unemployment Claims
- Injury reports and filing workers’ compensation claims
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
- Assists with the open enrollment process.
- Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
- Assists with the processing of terminations.
- Scans and files documents into the appropriate employee files.
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related fields and/or 3 years of equivalent experience. At least one years of related benefit experience required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. using appropriate body mechanics. Utilizes good hearing, vocal, and visual skills. Occasionally, it requires bending, stretching, pushing, and pulling. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
